Jersey Shore

From left to right: Sammy, Ronnie, Nicole, Jenny, Dina, Mike, Pauly D, and Vinny
Jersey Shore is a reality TV show that filmed a group of friends all living together for the summer at the shore. All eight people in the house are between the ages of 23 and 28 and their names are Ronnie, Mike, Pauly D, Vinny, Sammy, Nicole, Dina, and Jenny. The people in this show actually alter from season to season because some people get kicked due to disagreements with everyone  and someone else will fill that spot. Every episode has a baseline of them living it up at the beach and their house. Everyone of them works at a T-shirt store that is owned by the same person as they rent their house from but eventually they all quit because they hate it and are usually to hungover.

The after math of a fight between Ronnie and Mike
Some of there nights and most of the weekends, shows them drinking and having a great time. On the weekends they all go to the club together and party all night. With all the drinking and partying there's a lot of problems and drama that comes from it. There has been many times Mike, also known as The Situation, and Ronny have got into fights with each other. There was one time it was escalated so much that Mike had to go to the hospital. The girls also have a lot of drama within the house but its usually settled after time and when everyone is calm.

Everyone out at the club
The Jersey Shore is appealing to a lot of teenagers because of all the drama and comedy. The drama throughout every season and episode is what keeps the viewers keep on watching. Ronnie and Sammy are the house couple through all the seasons and when they fight everyone gets involved and puts there too sense into the situation. There has been many scenarios where Sammy finds out Ronnie is supposably cheating on her and the whole house gets involved. The couple tries to avoid each other but since they live in the same house there's a lot of crying and trash talking which escalates the tension. Everyone stays tuned to the episodes to see what will happen if they will be broken up for good or if they will settle it all out. With all the drama in the house comes comedy through all of their stupidity, especially Nicole, also known as Snooki. Snooki is always doing something out of the ordinary which makes for quality comedy. There was a time where she had to go to the bathroom at a bar and the girls line was so long that she just relieved herself behind the bar. In another episode, she was driving an he crashed her car into a cop car because she was texting and driving. If your in those situations there not humorous for yourself but as viewers it catches your attention in a funny way.

Jersey Shore also attracts to young mature adults because of the shows romance and everyone social life. Throughout their house, everyone has their own bed but usually a couple people share a room. Every year they leave the big room, with one bed in it, open and they consider it their "smush" room. Everyone uses this room when they know they are going to be getting lucky that night so everyone else doesn't need to be in their room while its going down. In the smush room there are hidden cameras so that the audience is able to see what happens behind the closed door. The room is mostly used on weekends when someone in the house brings someone else home that they found at the club. Obviously they don't show most of it, but the episodes contain enough of it to let the viewers know it happened. These camera angles allows the audience to think their not missing anything from the show.

Reality television shows are not my ideal thing to watch. I do enjoy watching shows but if its a reality TV show I have to be intrigued a lot in order to watch it. For me, the Jersey Shore is one of the few reality TV shows I can watch without being disappointed by it. There's just something about how it was filmed and the way the show goes that I don't mind watching it. It is a show that is meant to attract the attention of teenage kids for their entertainment and possibly project what their future could be. The reason I can watch this show is because my friend group and I used to be able to relate to all of actors in a certain way.

After reading June Deerys’ article, you could actually see how this reality TV show is made or at least picture it. When watching Jersey Shore, I could see what she meant by the cliffhangers, irony, red herrings, and more. One of the episodes ended in a cliff hanger by right after the whole house got into a big fight. It was purposely done in order to get the same viewers to watch the next episode. In the first episode of the show Ronny says during an interview that he would never fall in love at the Jersey Shore. The irony to that is the following episode he gets a girlfriend and falls in love with her and they date in every season. During each episode before the commercial breaks, there’s foreshadowing for what will be happening when it comes back on but most the time it’s just a red herring.
