Everyone out at the club |
Jersey Shore also attracts to young mature adults because of the shows romance and everyone social life. Throughout their house, everyone has their own bed but usually a couple people share a room. Every year they leave the big room, with one bed in it, open and they consider it their "smush" room. Everyone uses this room when they know they are going to be getting lucky that night so everyone else doesn't need to be in their room while its going down. In the smush room there are hidden cameras so that the audience is able to see what happens behind the closed door. The room is mostly used on weekends when someone in the house brings someone else home that they found at the club. Obviously they don't show most of it, but the episodes contain enough of it to let the viewers know it happened. These camera angles allows the audience to think their not missing anything from the show.
Reality television shows are not my ideal thing to watch. I do enjoy watching shows but if its a reality TV show I have to be intrigued a lot in order to watch it. For me, the Jersey Shore is one of the few reality TV shows I can watch without being disappointed by it. There's just something about how it was filmed and the way the show goes that I don't mind watching it. It is a show that is meant to attract the attention of teenage kids for their entertainment and possibly project what their future could be. The reason I can watch this show is because my friend group and I used to be able to relate to all of actors in a certain way.
After reading June Deerys’ article, you could
actually see how this reality TV show is made or at least picture it. When
watching Jersey Shore, I could see what she meant by the cliffhangers, irony,
red herrings, and more. One of the episodes ended in a cliff hanger by right
after the whole house got into a big fight. It was purposely done in order to
get the same viewers to watch the next episode. In the first episode of the
show Ronny says during an interview that he would never fall in love at the
Jersey Shore. The irony to that is the following episode he gets a girlfriend
and falls in love with her and they date in every season. During each episode
before the commercial breaks, there’s foreshadowing for what will be happening
when it comes back on but most the time it’s just a red herring.
