If Your Perfect Match was Right in Front of You Would You Even Know?
Are you the one cast members season 4 |
One reason this show is so interesting is because it shows the struggles of communications. It is hard to get to know someone emotional when there are eighteen other people in the room. In the show, there is a thing called a "get away" date which allows two people alone time to get to know each other. In episode "Sex, Lies and Truth Booths" Kam and Edward go on a "get away" date and she says to him. "I'm confident I'm what you need and i will be there for you no matter what the truth booth says". By her saying this allows us to understand her genuine feelings for Edward, and shows us that communication is easier when your alone with no interruptions. By these situations it shows us how hard communication really is to some people.
Throughout the show they use many techniques June Deery talks about. The first thing that I noticed was how every time they will announce a winner, or show the results in a truth booth they will cut to a commercial. By doing this it adds suspense and makes the viewers question who won, or what the results actually are. Also they use shaping by sending non perfect match couples into the truth booth. The producers know the outcome and they know who belongs with who but they do this to get a reaction from all the members in the house. They also use small interviews after something dramatic happens to get the member true feelings. For example, after every truth booth the producers interview the two members who had just went in to get their immediate reactions. June Deery's theory's come up a lot in Are You The One.

Overall, watching this show is just more than entertainment to me. In every episode there is always something new happening between the members in the house. By watching the members throughout the season you get to connect with how some of them are feeling and how they are struggling trying to find love. You learn that some people are there for love and others are only there for the money.
