Transformation On and Off Screen
Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian
After her own personal transformation, Khloe Kardashian has decided to form her own TV show to help others transform their bodies just as she did. The reality show known as Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian takes two participants and gives them eleven weeks of training along with a strict meal plan to help change their body. The show follows a specific series of events such as an introduction interview between each participant and Khloe Kardashian, the assignment of trainers to participants, and then the challenges they face along the way. The participants' success is tracked by measurements of their body before they begin working out, and then once they have completed the duration that the show focuses on. The show ends with a reveal of the participants' transformation to someone important in their lives. With each new episode and impressive transformation, more people are finding themselves watching Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian.

After watching this reality TV show, viewers will be inspired to change themselves. Each person on the show tells a story of their past, which helps to make the participants more relatable to the viewers. Since the participants can be easily understood in their struggles, the viewers may experience the same personal issues, or maybe see themselves in the same shoes. As a result, the viewers might be inspired to try to change their lifestyle to the way the stars on the show are living theirs in order to become healthy and look better too. In addition to looking better, the participants are eating much healthier after the show as well. By showing how healthy the diets are, and what is good for the body, people can be inspired to also change their way of life to have healthier lifestyles.
While the show shows the contestants before their transformation, during some of their work outs struggles, and after they receive makeovers from professionals, we do not see everything they experience during their weight-loss journey. The participants leave their homes to stay in a new facility for the few weeks each episode covers. As a result of leaving their normal lifestyles, they are able to change their ways of life. Alisa Roost writes about how this transformation is only possible by removing them from their everyday lives. The contestants work out all day long, and do not attend their jobs, nor do they eat what they were accustomed to before the show. The food given to them is specific for weight loss while they are on the show. Many weight loss shows are designed like this. There are intense workouts to cause the participants to struggle, and there is limited food allowed in order to drop the pounds quickly (Roost 174-195). While this is true for Revenge Body, the viewers are able to view the important areas of the show. The audience is shown why the contestants let themselves get heavy, and why they have little to no self-confidence. The audience is also shown what work out routines the participants are assigned to do, as well as some of the changes that are made to the meal plans. Even though the show cannot cover everything that happens over the eleven weeks, the amount that is shown, shows how hard the contestants work. and how amazing their end results are after their journey. By showing this, the show still allows for inspiration from the viewers to want change their lifestyles as well.

Bethonie Butler interviews Khloe Kardashian for the Washington Post, and Khloe admits that she had a very unhealthy lifestyle when she was younger and heavier. Khloe says when she started going to the gym she had to start with small workouts, and progress to where she is now, working out about five days a week. She also supports getting in small work outs when possible (Butler). This change in Khloe, from unhealthy to healthy and fit, is what allows her to be so focused on her show, and her participants' transformations. It's not just a job for her, it is her way of life. This focus allows her to put the time and effort into making a positive transformation in the participants' body image as well as personal confidence. By the end of the show, for some it is about the change in body image, and that they have lost a lot of weight. For others it is the fact that they now have a healthier lifestyle, which results in more self-confidence and a realization that they can do great things with their new found confidence in themselves.

By the same token, the viewers of the show are also educated after watching the episodes of Revenge Body. Each trainer talks about the workout routine they have chosen to have their participant complete. With each trainer, there are numerous different ways to work out during the sessions, which are shown while the participants work hard and show their dedication. By showing these work outs, the viewers are able to learn new ways to work out, and also new techniques to improve their form or toning techniques. The nutritionists also educate the viewers of the show. Each nutritionist shares tips for how to eat healthier, what to specifically to eat, and when to eat it. For example, the one show had the nutritionist tell the star that she should eat organic, grass-fed butter in her coffee for breakfast. The butter allowed for the intake of fats, which were needed for her morning work outs. By showing this particular clip, the viewers were also able to gain this information from the nutritional, which may cause them to then use that specific butter in their coffee as well once educated on how healthy it is.
This reality TV show also emphasizes determination and will power. The show repeatedly shows the stars of the show struggling through their workouts, or trying very hard to stick to the strict diet. In most shots, the participants are seen tired and sweaty during a workout. By showing specific shots where the stars are struggling, the makers have edited the film that was to be shown, according to June Deery. This editing allows for specific scenes to be shown throughout the show to help develop the characters and their attitudes to the audience. It is at this time that the star wants to give up and quit their transformation, but with the encouragement of the trainer and Khloe, the stars stay determined to transform their bodies by losing the weight. This attitude from relatable stars allows the audience to connect with them, and maybe try to embrace the same determination as those in the show. In addition to Khloe showing others working hard on the show and being dedicated, she is also dedicated to this lifestyle out of her show. Amy Zimmer writes in the Daily Beast about how Amy Schumer makes a comment on a talk show that Khloe is no longer able to be relatable due to the fact that she is now thin and in shape. Khloe immediately responds to this accusation saying, "She loves this game" (Zimmerman 1). With her now in shape, others may feel like the cannot relate to her with her famously, thin body, but Khloe remains determined to promote a healthy way of life. Khloe's determination and personal will power in helping herself and those on her show, encourages her viewers and followers to change their lives as well.

Revenge body also helps maintain or establish reputations. The TV show is watched by many people across the United States. In consequence of having many viewers, the trainers are then able to gain more publicity than they would just by training their normal clients. Each episode introduces the trainers, and their expertise. Khloe Kardashian also has a personal interview with the camera where she praises the trainers she chooses to help transform her clients. In addition to the trainers, Khloe also has her personal hairstylist and stylists help complete the transformation before the stars reveal themselves to someone personal in their lives. By doing this, the stylists also gain more reputation among the public for their work by the viewers of the show.
As a result of watching this show, viewers are able to see real transformations that people undergo to have healthier, more confident lifestyles. The audience of the show will feel a sense of encouragement to change their own lives after seeing the transformations the participants on the show experience, in addition to having more knowledge of how to effectively work out and eat better. The determination of the stars also helps the audience to feel how important the change is. The viewers can also follow Khloe Kadashian outside of her show for more encouragement to change themselves. The show Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian has an impact on not only the participants, but on the viewers who are looking to improve their lives as well.
